Buyers React With Gusto To Precious Metal Price Dip

Topics [ buy gold online buy silver online gold prices gold trading silver prices ]

Buyers swooped on the opportunity to buy gold and silver at The Perth Mint on Monday.

In line with international exchanges, Perth Mint gold and silver spot prices dropped sharply for a second consecutive day.

Gold neared AU$1,600 per ounce while silver fell briefly to below AU$30 per ounce.

Staff on the bullion sales desk in The Perth Mint Shop reported a substantially increased volume of buyers.  “It’s been crazy busy all day in here,” one member of the team reported to us as the day drew to a close.

Meanwhile, the bullion sales website handled its biggest ever one-day total of visits and set a new one-day record for sales and client registrations.

Perth Mint buyers certainly appear to believe that the market is in nothing more sinister than a corrective phase.

Meanhile, according to analysis reported by Reuters, the gold ‘bull run’ is not yet broken.

“..the most critical price points needed to maintain the post-2008 rally at around $1,500 an ounce have held firm for now, according to analysts who study candlestick charts and historical trends to predict prices,” it said.

A Look Back at Kangaroo/Nuggets Ahead of 2012's Release

Topics [ Australian Kangaroo gold bullion coins ]

With just two weeks to go before the launch of Australia’s premier gold bullion coin series for 2012, here’s a nostalgic look back at previous kangaroo designs spanning gold’s ten or more year ‘bull run’.

Until 2007, these coins were known by their original name - Australian Nuggets. In fact the design theme changed to Australia’s most iconic marsupial in 1990, a fact not formally acknowledged in the inscription until 2008.

The Kangaroo is one of the world’s most successful 99.99% pure gold bullion coin programs. The coins are limited by mintage (bar the 1 kilo release), an exclusive feature that for some adds a higher degree of collectability to these annual designs.

Temporary Suspension Of Silver Dragon Orders

Topics [ silver bullion coins Australian Lunar Year of the Dragon ]

With immediate effect we are temporarily suspending orders for 1/2oz, 2oz and 5oz 2012 Year of the Dragon silver bullion coins.

This decision has been taken in response to unprecedented levels of demand for these three sizes, which is stretching production capacity to the limit. A temporary suspension in order-taking is, therefore, required to enable us to re-stock these product lines and focus on fulfilling all existing orders as quickly as possible.

I emphasise that this move will enable our production to catch-up with orders and that it has nothing to do with the amount of silver available at The Perth Mint, of which there is ample.

Going forward, it is our intention to re-start production of 1/2oz silver bullion Dragons first.  I will post as soon as I can with an announcement that we are taking orders again to ensure that you have access to at least one small Lunar coin.

I’d like to apologise for any inconvenience that this temporary suspension may cause. This year we planned significantly larger inventories of the Australian Lunar series to be available at launch, but even we’ve been surprised at the level of interest in what must be the most popular coins so far this year!
