Perth Mint Unveils 2012 Australian Lunar Gold And Silver Bullion Coin Series

PERTH The Perth Mint today unveiled the 2012 Australian Lunar gold and silver bullion coin series.
These magnificent coins celebrate the Year of the Dragon, the fifth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. Both reverse designs include the Chinese character for ‘dragon’, the inscription ‘Year of the Dragon’ in English, and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
The coins are struck from 99.99% pure gold and 99.9% pure silver. Gold bullion Dragon coins are available in 10kg, 1kg, 10oz, 2oz, 1oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz and 1/20oz sizes. Silver bullion Dragon coins are available in 10kg, 1kg, 10oz, 5oz, 2oz, 1oz and 1/2oz sizes.
Limited mintages apply to some coins, including no more than 30,000 1oz gold coins and 300,000 1oz silver coins.
Each coin, which portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, is issued as legal tender under the Australian
Currency Act 1965.
