1. Customer Identification Documents For Australian Individuals - VIA AUSTRALIA POST

Individuals are required to provide identification which details their full name, date of birth and current residential address. You will need to present the following documents along with the Australia Post Identity Verification Form (which you can print at the completion of the on-screen registration process) at any participating Australia Post branch. Australia Post provides a customer identification service on behalf of The Perth Mint. There is no cost for this service.

Your Identity Document Requirements

You MUST present ONE primary document from the below list that contains BOTH a photo AND your current residential address. If it does not contain your photo or current address you must also supply one secondary document that contains your current residential address.

Primary Identification Documents:

  • Australian Driver Licence or Learner Permit (current)
  • Australian Passport (current or expired within the last 2 years)
  • International Passport (current)
  • Proof of Age Card/NSW Photo Card (current and government issued)
  • Centrelink Pension Card (current)
  • Australian Birth Certificate (not an extract)
  • Australian Citizenship Certificate

Secondary Identification Documents with Residential Address:

  • Utility Bill or Council Rates Notice (less than 3 months old);
  • Taxation Notice or Centrelink Statement (less than 12 months old)

How to lodge your ID Verification at Australia Post

  1. Download and print the Australia Post ID Verification Form at completion of the on-screen registration process. You can log on at any time to retrieve the form.
  2. Lodge your form & identification documents at any participating post office. To find the nearest participating outlet, please go to auspost.com.au/pol and select Bank@Post or call 13 13 18;
  3. Your signature must be witnessed by the Australia Post verifier;
  4. Identification documents MUST be presented and be ORIGINAL;
  5. Your completed ID Verification will be submitted to The Perth Mint by Australia Post and your registration approved, usually on the following business day. There is no cost.

2. Customer Identification Documents For Individuals outside Australia

Individuals are required to provide identification which details their full name, date of birth and current residential address.

Two identification documents are required, which must consist of at least one Primary Photographic ID document stating the date of birth and at least one document stating current residential address. Copies of identification documents are to be certified/notarized as specified here.

The preferred Primary Photographic ID documents are;

  1. Passport: Australian or foreign, containing photograph and signature; and
  2. Drivers Licence: Australian or foreign, containing photograph and signature.

The preferred Primary Non-photographic ID documents are;

  1. Birth Certificate: Australian or foreign; or
  2. Utility Bill, less than three months old and issued by a government body or utilities provider for provision of services (rates, electricity, gas, water) containing the name of the individual and current residential address.
  3. Taxation notice (Australian residents only).

If one of the above documents are not available, then please provide one of the following:

  • National identity card: foreign, containing a photograph and signature;
  • Proof of Age card: issued by Australian State or Territory, containing photograph;
  • Citizenship Certificate: Australian or foreign;
  • Pension or Social Security Card: issued by a Government authority.

3. Customer Identification Documents For Companies

Companies are required to provide corporate identification documents which include the business registration details, names of directors, and for private companies, the details of shareholders.

For Australian registered companies please provide certified copies of:

  1. ASIC Company Statement; and
  2. ASIC Certificate of Incorporation; and
  3. The  identification documents for individuals as per section 2. above for the Director/Office Holder nominated to operate the account (two (2) identification documents required). Australia Post ID Verification cannot be used.
For foreign registered companies please provide:
  1. Certificate of company registration issued by the relevant company registration body: and
  2. A company statement including a listing of directors, and for private companies; a listing of shareholders; and
  3. The identification documents for individuals as per section 2. above for the Director/Office Holder nominated to operate the account (two (2) identification documents required). Australia Post ID Verification cannot be used.

4. Customer Identification Documents For Trusts and Trustees / SUPERANNUATION FUNDS /   PARTNERSHIPS

Trusts and Superannuation Funds are required to provide identification documents for both the Trust and the Trustee nominated to operate the account.

The following certified documents are required:

  1. Trust Deed (first page and last few pages with the name and signature of the Trustee(s); and
  2. If the Trustee is an individual, then please provide the identification documents for individuals as per section 2. above (two (2) identification documents required);
  3. If the Trustee is a company, then please provide corporate identification documents as per section 3. above; plus the identification documents for individuals as per section 2. above for the Director/Office Holder nominated to operate the account (two (2) identification documents required). Australia Post ID Verification cannot be used.

Partnerships are required to provide the full name of the partnership and details of membership of any regulating professional association (if applicable).

The following certified documents are required:

  1.  Partnership Agreement; or Government certificate of registration (ABN)
  2.  Identification documents for individuals as per section 2. above for the Director/Partner nominated to operate the account (two (2) identification documents required). Australia Post ID Verification cannot be used.

5. Customer Identification Documents For Other Entities / SOLE TRADERS / ASSOCIATIONS

* Please note Western Australia is at least 12 hours ahead of US time zones, at most 8 hours ahead of European time zones and plus or minus 2 hours of South East Asian time zones.  

NOTES:

All identification documents must be original or certified copies of originals and must be current, except for passports, which may be less than two years expired. If any of the above foreign documents are written in a language other than English, they must be accompanied by an English translation prepared by an accredited translator.
