BULLION BARS AND COINS
With just two weeks to go before the launch of Australia’s premier gold bullion coin series for 2012, here’s a nostalgic look back at previous kangaroo designs spanning gold’s ten or more year ‘bull run’. Until 2007, these coins were known by their original name - Australian Nuggets. In fact the design theme changed to Australia’s most iconic marsupial in 1990, a fact not formally acknowledged in the inscription until 2008. The Kangaroo is one of the world’s most successful 99.99% pure gold bullion coin programs. The coins are limited by mintage (bar the 1 kilo release), an exclusive feature that for some adds a higher degree of collectability to these annual designs.
